The Constitutional Court is embarking on a historic step towards full institutional openness, initiating the most significant reform in the field of transparency since its establishment.
From 4 March, for the first time in its history, the public will be able to follow the Court’s sessions live via its official website.
The session will be available at the following link: https://ustavensud.mk/во-живо
With the introduction of this model of transparency, a new chapter is opened in the relationship between the institution and the citizens.
Every citizen will be able, in real time, to observe how hearings are conducted, which arguments are advanced and contested in the decision-making process, how legal reasoning is developed, and the atmosphere in which decisions of fundamental importance to the legal order are adopted.
This decision represents the culmination of a multi-year process of gradually implementing the Communications Management Programme, carried out through several developmental phases:
- Active transparency and continuous public reporting on all cases at every stage of the proceedings;
- Establishment of an active presence on social media, with the possibility for direct interaction with citizens;
- Monitoring publicly available information relating to the Court and providing timely responses and information to citizens on matters of public interest;
- Technical modernisation and the provision of equipment for digital operations and recording;
- Introduction, via the website, of the possibility for direct electronic communication with the President;
- Organisation of meetings between the President and citizens on the first Thursday of each month, commencing on 5 March 2026.
The decision to introduce live streaming of sessions was adopted by a majority vote of the current composition of the Court, guided by the imperative of transparent, accountable, and open institutional functioning.
The ultimate objective of this reform is to strengthen public trust in the rule of law and to bring citizens closer to the Court’s competences through direct insight into the work of the highest constitutional judicial authority.
With this development, the Constitutional Court not only sets new standards for its own operation, but also positions itself as the most transparent court and one of the most open institutions in the country, with the aim of encouraging other public authorities striving towards greater openness and accountability.
