Education


Prof. Dr. Osman Kadriu was born in the village of Arangel, near Kicevo. After completing his primary education in his hometown, he continued his studies in Belgrade. Upon finishing secondary school, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, where he graduated in 1973. He later pursued postgraduate studies at the same faculty, earning a Master’s degree in Legal Sciences in 1992, after successfully defending his thesis in the field of civil law entitled “Liability for Damage Caused by an Employee to a Third Party.”

In 1999, at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, Kadriu LL.D. defended his doctoral dissertation titled “Unlawful Termination of Employment and the Employer’s Liability for Damages,” thus obtaining the academic title of Doctor of Legal Sciences.

Professional Career and Public Service


Following the completion of his law studies, Osman Kadriu LL.D. began his professional career at the then Municipal Court in Kičevo, first as a judicial trainee in 1974, and after passing the Bar Examination, he continued as a legal associate at the same court.

He has held the following positions:

  • Judge at the Municipal Court in Kičevo, elected in 1976;
  • Secretary of the Assembly of the Municipality of Kičevo, 1978–1982;
  • Secretary of the Assembly of the Municipality of Kičevo, 1982–1986;
  • Deputy President of the Executive Council of the Municipal Assembly, 1986–1990;
  • President of the Municipal Conference of SSRNM in Kičevo, 1980–1981;
  • Member of the Republican Judicial Council, 1994–2000;
  • Lawyer in Skopje, 2001–2007;
  • Professor at the Faculty of Law at the State University of Tetovo, 2001–2007;
  • Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law at the State University of Tetovo, 2004–2005;
  • Professor at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, 1996–2010;
  • Vice-Rector of FON University, 29 November 2007 – October 2009;
  • Member of the Senate of FON University, 2012–2016;
  • Delegate at the Inter-University Conference;
  • Professor at FON University since 2006, currently active.

By decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia on 11 January 2018, he was elected Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia.

Academic Work


Alongside his professional responsibilities and numerous public functions, Osman Kadriu LL.D. is also actively engaged in scientific and research work. He has published seven books and over 80 scholarly and expert articles in the following fields: civil law; constitutional and political law; and labour law. His articles have appeared in several journals, including Judicial Review, Advocacy, Lawyer (the journal of the Association of Lawyers of the Republic of Macedonia), and various publications of FON University, the Faculty of Law in Skopje, and the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU).
A significant number of his academic and expert articles have been published internationally, particularly in the journal Legal Life in Belgrade. His works have been published in Macedonian, Albanian, Serbian, and English.

Other Activities and Skills


Osman Kadriu LL.D. has also distinguished himself in the field of legal expertise and political analysis. In this capacity, he has made over 300 public addresses, commentaries, proposals, and concrete recommendations.

At the Faculty of Legal Sciences of FON University, Professor Kadriu teaches nine courses across all years of study, delivering lectures in both Albanian and Macedonian.

In addition to his engagement with FON University, he has also lectured at the “Goce Delcev” University in Stip and the “St. Kliment Ohridski” University in Bitola.

He uses English and French.
