President of the Constitutional Court, Dr Darko Kostadinovski, HELD A Meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Nives Tiganj

The President of the Constitutional Court, Darko Kostadinovski LLD, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Nives Tiganj.

During the meeting, President Kostadinovski expressed particular satisfaction with the fact that the constitutional courts of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia maintain continuous and excellent cooperation, based on mutual trust and the exchange of experiences. President Kostadinovski informed the Ambassador about the current challenges facing the Constitutional Court and, in this context, emphasised the Court’s commitment to exercising its constitutional competences consistently, independently and impartially, with the aim of strengthening legal certainty and restoring citizens’ trust in institutions and in the rule of law.

The interlocutors agreed that relations between the two countries are exceptionally friendly, welcomed the bilateral cooperation, and underlined the importance of further exchange of experiences and good practices between the constitutional courts as a means of advancing European standards in the field of constitutional justice and the rule of law.

Ambassador Tiganj welcomed the active and visible role of the Constitutional Court in safeguarding fundamental democratic values, noting that a strong, independent and functional constitutional court is an essential prerequisite for the stability of any democratic state, as well as for integration processes within the European Union.

The meeting confirmed the shared readiness to further enhance bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in the field of constitutional law, in a spirit of mutual respect and European democratic values.
