We would like to inform you that the Constitutional Court would work with six out of a total of nine Judges, due to the completion of the term of office of Judge Vangelina Markudova.
Judge Markudova attended her last session on Wednesday, 7th December, when her duties at the Constitutional Court were over.
Judge Markudova had been working on the “Law on salary and other compensation of the elected or appointed individuals” as her last initiative and presented it during the session. Having regard to this case, the Constitutional Court initiated a procedure and expressed doubts about the constitutionality of Article 22, which allows officials dismissed or resigned from office to receive a salary (appanage) even after their term of office is over.
The Constitutional Court prepared a suitable ceremony on the retirement of Judge Markudova, where other Judges and employees gave respect to her contribution, active participation, and service at the Constitutional Court.
“I would like to thank my colleague Markudova for being a role model of what it means to be a professional without any scandals or affairs in her career as a Judge, a dedicated worker completing her duties orderly throughout the working hours without missing a day from work, and I am exceptionally pleased that she succeeded to make a great impression of a peaceful and tolerant person, and many others can learn from her.” – stated Mrs. Dobrila Kacarska, the President of the Constitutional Court.
Vangelina Markudova had been working actively for the judiciary system since 1984, beginning as a legal trainee and professional associate at the municipal court of the city of Gevgelija, and in 1986 she was elected as a judge. In 1994, she was elected as a judge at the Basic Court Skopje I, and from 2007 to 2013 she served in the department of organized crime and corruption. On 21st November 2013, on a proposal of the Judicial Council, she was elected as a Judge at the Constitutional Court and her term of office began on 7th December 2013 until completion on 7th December 2022.
“This is my last session at the Constitutional Court, and I am proud to retire with my head held high. I was committed to giving my best, and when I was making decisions, I always had the citizens and their freedoms and rights on my mind.” – Markudova said.
During the past nine years in her term of office as a Judge of the Constitutional Court, Vangelina Markudova was working on 256 cases as a reporting judge.
