The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia, Darko Kostadinovski LLD, will participate as a speaker at the International Conference on Contemporary Challenges in Constitutional Justice, which will be held on 7 and 8 February 2026 in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Judge Kostadinovski will deliver an address during the session devoted to the independence of constitutional justice, in his capacity as a representative and Chair of the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum (BCCF). In his address, he will present the topic “Constitutional Judiciary in the Republic of North Macedonia: The Path from Strict Formalism to Living Constitutionalism”.

The conference discussions will focus, amongst other things, on the significance of institutional guarantees for the independence of constitutional courts, the mechanisms for their protection against political and media influence, and the role of constitutional courts in safeguarding the constitutional order and upholding the rule of law.

Furthermore, the conference will address issues concerning the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on constitutional justice, particularly with regard to support for judicial decision-making, the protection of personal data, and the digital transformation of constitutional court institutions. Consideration will also be given to matters relating to the limits of constitutional jurisdiction, constitutional interpretation, and the relationship between the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government.

The conference will bring together presidents and judges of constitutional and supreme courts, as well as legal experts and academics from a number of countries.

Within the framework of the official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, a bilateral meeting is scheduled with the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr Boulos Fahmy Iskandar, at which a Protocol of Cooperation between the two courts is expected to be signed.

The Protocol is intended to promote the dissemination of legal knowledge and the further development of judicial decision-making techniques, to establish a framework for the exchange of case law, experience, and expertise, and to enhance institutional cooperation between the two constitutional courts.
