Students from the Faculty of Law at Mother Teresa University today visited the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia as part of their educational and practical studies, with the aim of gaining a closer understanding of the Court’s role, competences and functioning.
During the visit, the students toured the Court’s premises, providing them with an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the organisation of its work, the courtroom where sessions are held, and the manner in which cases concerning constitutional judicial protection are handled.
The Court’s advisers, Jasmina Simonovska, Sanja Gelevska-Trajcevski, Ekrem Haljimi and Ensar Jusufi, briefed the students on the constitutional competences of the Court, procedures for reviewing the constitutionality and legality of legislation, the protection of human freedoms and rights, as well as the Court’s role in upholding the rule of law and the constitutional order.
The students were also presented with the Court’s ongoing digitalisation and transparency-enhancement initiatives, including the possibility for the public to follow the Court’s sessions live through its official digital channels. During the visit, a documentary about the Constitutional Court was also presented, covering the Court’s role and competences, key events in chronological order, and important dates.
Such meetings are important for the development of legal culture, strengthening confidence in institutions, and encouraging young people to take an active role in legal and public life.
