Dobrila Kacarska, President of the Constitutional Court, met with Ambassador Kilian Wahl, head of the OSCE mission to Skopje. During the conversation, the state of the Constitutional Court has been considered from the perspectives of its operational and available resources, the necessity of achieving financial independence, and the absence of two other judges.
During the discussion of the competence of the Constitutional Court to adopt decisions on human rights and freedoms, President Kacarska gave an overview of every effort that she had carried out previously to raise awareness about the introduction of the constitutional complaint, its importance to the citizens as well as the appeal for support in launching this mechanism.
Ambassador Wahl expressed support for the functional improvement of the Constitutional Court, emphasizing its role in upholding the principles of the rule of law and the protection of human rights and freedoms. He also highlighted the importance of the introduction of the Constitutional complaint.
The OSCE mission to Skopje is a vital collaborator and supporter of the Constitutional Court. In the past, the partnership proved fruitful in that it facilitated the planning of training on human rights for the advisors assigned to cases in the Constitutional Court.
The purpose of the meeting today was to highlight the shared goal to continue cooperation in the upcoming period. This will be achieved through regular communication between the services and the implementation of projects that are highly important to the functioning of the Constitutional Court and the values that the OSCE mission represents and promotes.
