The Constitutional Court hosted a two-day training on “The prohibition of discrimination in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights” for the court service
Lawyers Ana Medarska Lazova and Hristijan Koneski delivered the training as part of a contract with the Secretariat of the European Court of Human Rights.
The training’s structure included an explanation of the basis and different types and causes of discrimination, the scope of application of Articles 14 and 1 of Protocol No. 12 of the ECHR, exercises to help participants recognise discriminatory treatment, lack of an objective and justifiable defence, the burden of proof in discrimination cases, examples of hate speech and specific cases from the past years against North Macedonia were elaborated.
The event, which took place between 10 and 11 July, was supported by the OSCE Mission in Skopje and was designed to improve professional service skills through practical applications in the area of human rights and freedoms.
