Bilateral visit of a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia
Delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey
headed by the President of the Court Mr. Hasim Kilic and three judges, will be
in an official visit of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia,
from 3-5 May 2o10.
It is a first official bilateral meeting between the Constitutional
Court of the Republic of Macedonia and the Constitutional Court of Turkey, with
the aim of establishment of closer relations and exchange of experience and
constitutional jurisprudence.
During the visit a working meeting will be held at the Constitutional
Court of the Republic of Macedonia for discussion on the current challenges in
the work of both constitutional courts, which in spite of certain differences
in their competences, have many similarities, since both of them are
established and have been developed on the model of the European constitutional
judiciary.
The delegation of the Constitutional Court of Turkey will be received
by the President of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Gjorgje Ivanov.
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia and the
Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey in 2006 signed a Memoranda for
Understanding and Bilateral Co-operation that provides for regular annual
meetings and study visits of representatives of constitutional courts for
exchange of experiences and constitutional case-law.
In addition to the working part, the high level delegation of the
Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey will also visit the monument of
Kemal Ataturk at the City Museum of Bitola, the Sarai in Resen and cultural and
historical monuments in Ohrid.
