Students from the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” Visit the Constitutional Court

Students from the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” visited the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia as part of the activities envisaged under the Memorandum of Cooperation concluded between the two institutions.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the jurisdiction, organisation, and functioning of the Constitutional Court, as well as its role in safeguarding constitutionality, legality, and fundamental human rights and freedoms. Particular emphasis was placed on proceedings initiated upon petitions and requests, the Court’s decision-making process, and the importance of legal reasoning and justification in the adoption of decisions.

The students showed particular interest in the practical application of constitutional law, raising questions related to ongoing cases of public interest, the role of the Court in addressing contemporary societal challenges, and the possibilities for introducing a constitutional complaint as an instrument for the protection of citizens’ rights.

As part of the visit, the students were also informed about the Court’s current activities aimed at enhancing transparency, including new practices for the public broadcasting of its sessions, representing an important step towards greater openness and bringing the work of the Court closer to the public.

This visit forms part of the ongoing cooperation between the Constitutional Court and the academic community, aimed at deepening students’ knowledge and encouraging their interest in constitutional adjudication as a key component of the legal system.

The visit took place on 7 April 2026 at the Constitutional Court.
