Meeting of President Kostadinovski with Michalis Pikramenos, President of the Council of State of the Hellenic Republic

The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia, Darko Kostadinovski LLD, together with the President of the Supreme Court, Afrim Fidani, and the President of the Judicial Council, Aleksandar Kambovski, held a working meeting with Michalis Pikramenos, President of the Council of State of the Hellenic Republic, an institution with related competences to those of the Constitutional Court in the field of constitutional review.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views and experiences regarding their respective competences, with particular emphasis on the review of the constitutionality of acts adopted by state authorities, the President, the Government, and Parliament.

The interlocutors also discussed the working methods and organization of the Council of State, examining the specific features, similarities, and differences between the two systems of constitutional review.

It was emphasized during the discussion that public trust in the judiciary represents a key prerequisite for the stability of democratic processes. “Creating a perception of a lack of trust in the judiciary directly affects democracy,” the interlocutors agreed.

President Kostadinovski extended an open invitation for a return visit to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia, with the aim of further deepening cooperation, as well as an invitation to participate in the Balkan Forum of Constitutional Courts, as a platform for regional exchange of experiences and the strengthening of constitutional jurisprudence.
