President Kostadinovski and Judge Pavlovska-Daneva Hold Bilateral Meeting at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia

A delegation of the Constitutional Court, represented by the President, Darko Kostadinovski LLD, and Judge Prof. Dr Ana Pavlovska-Daneva, held a working meeting with Dr Vladan Petrov, President, and Judges Dr Dobrosav Milovanović and Dr Nataša Plavšić of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia.

The Presidents of the two Courts expressed their mutual satisfaction with the meeting and agreed to work towards enhancing cooperation, particularly in light of the friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

President Kostadinovski emphasised the importance of intensifying bilateral cooperation between the two Courts, noting that the purpose of the visit to Belgrade is to ensure that delegations of both Courts meet again in the near future and participate in joint activities.

President Petrov highlighted that President Kostadinovski is the first President of a constitutional court to visit the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia since his appointment as Head of the institution.

As he noted, this also carries symbolic significance, as countries in the region—particularly constitutional courts—should cooperate more intensively. He underlined that they should be among the leading institutions contributing to the process of European integration.

President Petrov and President Kostadinovski also discussed the respective competences of the two Courts, their decision-making processes, as well as the current challenges they face.

At the meeting, an initiative was put forward to begin preparations for the drafting of a Protocol that would formalise cooperation between the two Courts, with a particular focus on sharing good practices in constitutional jurisprudence, as well as on the exchange of experience and knowledge among judges and professional staff of the constitutional courts.
